  • Posture: Sit comfortably and hold the guitar close to your body. Keep your fretting hand (usually left hand) curved and fingers positioned over the fretboard.
  • Am (A minor):
    • This is a very common and easy open chord.
    • Place your index finger on the second fret of the B string.
    • Place your middle finger on the second fret of the D string.
    • Strum across all strings (except the high E string which you can mute with your thumb) to make the Am chord sound.
  • Bm (B minor):
    • Similar to Am, but with fingers shifted one string higher.
    • Index finger on the third fret of the G string.
    • Middle finger on the third fret of the B string.
    • Strum across all strings (excluding high E) for Bm.
  • Am7 (A minor seventh):
    • Variation of Am with a “jazzy” feel.
    • Same fingering as Am (index on B string, middle on D string)
    • Strum all strings (excluding high E) for Am7.
  • Cmaj7 (C major seventh):
    • Another open chord with a bright, happy sound.
    • Index finger on the first fret of the A string.
    • Middle finger on the second fret of the G string.
