1.Emily the Criminal
The American crime drama Emily the Criminal was written and directed by John Patton Ford. Gina Gershon, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Theo Rossi, and Aubrey Plaza are the main actors.
It had its Sundance Film Festival premiere on January 24, 2022, and Vertical Entertainment and Roadside Attractions released it in the US on August 12, 2022.
The story of a girl, Emily (Aubrey Plaza) who is unable to get employment, due to a small criminal record and her heavy student debt, she accepts a sketchy job as a “dummy shopper,” purchasing things with stolen credit cards.
However, following a string of fruitless job interviews, Emily finds herself drawn to her mentor Youcef and the quick money and illegal thrills of black market entrepreneurship.
2. Don’t Worry Darling
Adapted on a narrative by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke, and Silberman, the script for Olivia Wilde’s 2022 American psychological thriller film Don’t Worry Darling was written by Katie Silberman.
Renowned stars like Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, and Chris Pine are among the ensemble cast members in the movie.
The story is about A 1950s housewife who lives with her husband in an experimental utopian village and starts to think that his glitzy business might be harboring unsettling secrets.
The movie made its international premiere on September 5, 2022, at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. On September 23, 2022, it is slated for distribution in the US.
3. Emergency Declaration
Song Kang-ho, Lee Byung-hun, Jeon Do-Yeon, and Kim Nam-Gil star in the disaster-action movie Emergency Declaration (Korean: Bisang Seoneon), which was produced by Han Jae-rim.
The movie is based on an actual aviation accident where an aircraft issued a high warning and ordered a safe landing.
In the storyline, Korean authorities learn that a suspect recently boarded a plane overseas headed for the United States while looking into a terrorism threat that becomes viral online.
On July 16, 2021, the movie had its world premiere at the out-of-competition section of the 74th Cannes Film Festival. On August 3, 2022, it had its South Korean theatrical debut.
4. Gangubai Kathiawadi
The movie Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biographical crime drama Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the director and producer of this film. Alia Bhatt plays the title role in the movie, and Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Vijay Raaz also play significant roles.
A modest girl from Kathiawad who had no choice but to accept destiny’s ways and make it work to her advantage is portrayed as rising to prominence in the movie.
Madhu, a young woman, is compelled to become a prostitute against her choice. Rashmibai, the madame of the brothel, tortures her since she won’t become a prostitute. Later, it is advised that she ask Gangubai to influence Madhu.
Gangubai Kathiawadi had its world premiere on 16 February at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. On February 25, 2022, the movie was officially released.
5. Anek
Action thriller Anek, which translates to “many,” is an Indian Hindi-language movie that was written, produced, and directed by Anubhav Sinha.
The lead character of the film is a secret agent official, who is dispatched to India’s Northeast region in order to broker a peace agreement between the government and the North East separatist factions, who also want to leave India.
The movie follows Joshua’s trek through the violent northeast, as he tries to broker a truce with the leader of the most militant organization, Tiger Sangha.
Ayushmann Khurrana, the film’s star played the leading role, Anek was released in worldwide cinemas on 27 May 2022.
