Resistance Against Fascism

Fascist ideologies are everywhere. With time, fascism became a normalized phenomenon. People need to be conscious of the existing fascist politics so that they can fight it.

Racism, fascism, and discrimination have become a part of the hegemonic structure of exploitation. All these are not things from the past, rather systematic aggression is becoming stronger and stronger every day under the disguise of democracy.

Systematically, the anxiety of the other (through war) is introduced to control people and normalize fascist activities.

How to Resist

The resistance has to start from everywhere by recognizing the sufferers and helping them to recover. To help people to fight against systematic discrimination, it is important to bring change in the power politics too.

To change the narrative, to start a new one, people need to be political in every possible way from every possible position as well. Creating a political alternative is one of the options with the help of the existing progressive democratic institutions.

There is hope, for instance, the revolution of Rojava is a model. People are already trying to make their people politically aware so that they can participate in the process of decision-making. The time is for a civil society with a political awareness that can fight against racism, fascism, and discrimination.

People need to think for themselves forgetting all the ideological differences to unite for a better world. If people be together and work for each other rights, it would be possible to liberate everyone. Collaboration is the key to freedom that would help to grow power. And ultimately people would be able to resist on their own. Differences should not be the problem, it should be the power—the power of diversity against hatred, discrimination, prejudice, and fascism.

[This article is an inspired piece developed from my understanding of Gabrielle Fradin’s speech, ‘Resistance against fascist rhetoric begins at home.’ Fardin is a DiEM25 activist. Her speech is about the normalizing process of spreading fascist propaganda. The rhetoric is everywhere and trying to develop and distribute discriminatory propaganda in a hegemonic way. She, in her speech, addresses the issue and provides ways to fight against hatred, discrimination, prejudice, and fascism.]
