Gal Gadot offered her thought with a tweet addressing the current situation in Israel and Palestine. Now she has sparked controversy on social media.
The Israeli Wonder Woman 1984 star, who is a former Israel Defense Forces fighter, disabled comments on her post, but over 100,000 people have since quote-tweeted her message.
On Wednesday, Gadot wrote on Twitter, “My heart breaks. My country is at war,” “I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation, our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we can live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.”
Many people criticized Gadot’s post for not mentioning Palestine, and spoke of “mass genocide” and “ethnic cleansing”. Though other users voiced support for her.
Most recently, Gal Gadot starred in Wonder Woman 1984 directed by Patty Jenkins and will appear in Death on the Nile.
