As someone who has followed the music of the Dubliners since childhood, it's always a pleasure to catch up with my good friend, Ged Graham's musical, which takes us through their amazing 50 year career. There is a great atmosphere and I never tire of hearing the songs and stories that tell the remarkable tale of a group who did so much to broaden the appeal of Irish folk music, beginning in those halcyon days of the 1960's. As the show goes on, we see and hear the musical developments and share in the joys and sorrows that took place along the way.
The recent production at Lichfield Garrick was as entertaining as ever and I never fail to leave this particular show without slightly raw hands and a hoarse voice from an evening spent clapping and singing along. By all accounts, the current tour is going well and long may Ged and the team continue to tell us the story of a highly talented and in many ways, original group and the way in which they took the world by storm and brought their unique sound to a whole new audience. Here's to many more tours of "Seven Drunken Nights-The Story Of The Dubliners."
