The 29th edition of Sziget Festival was held from August 10 to 15, 2023, on Óbuda Island in Budapest, Hungary. Sziget Highlights
Sziget 2023 saw an attendance of over 420,000 fans, with the 10 millionth Szitizen arriving at noon on Friday. The festival featured over 50 venues, with artists from 62 countries, including nearly 200 Hungarian performers. The culinary offerings were extensive, with over 100 dining options that included Hungarian and international cuisine, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-free options.
To accommodate the needs of all festival-goers, additional campsites were introduced, including facilities for wheelchair users. The Art of Freedom exhibition also returned, featuring installations by international artists. VIP ticket holders had access to four VIP zones, which offered exclusive amenities and experiences.
Sziget Headliners
The 30th anniversary of Sziget Festival featured a lineup of artists including Sam Fender, Florence + the Machine, Yungblud, Imagine Dragons, Mimi Webb, and David Guetta.
Fender made a comeback on Thursday (August 10) after having to cancel his 2022 performance due to vocal issues. The audience welcomed him warmly, and he gave a well-coordinated performance that included his hits “Seventeen Going Under” and “Hypersonic Missiles”. Florence + the Machine’s performance on Thursday night was a highlight of the festival. The band’s set was full of energy and spectacle, and Welch’s vocals were amazing.
Yungblud energized the crowd on Friday with his high-spirited performance. He encouraged the audience to connect with each other and joined them in the mosh pit throughout his performance. Imagine Dragons’ performance on Friday was a hit with the audience. They played their hits like “My Life” and “Believer”, and the audience sang along enthusiastically. Mimi Webb closed out the main stage on Saturday with her upbeat pop hits like “House on Fire”. Niall Horan also performed on Saturday and got the crowd singing along to his hits like “Story Of My Life” and “One Direction”. David Guetta brought the festival to a close on Saturday night with a performance of his biggest dance hits, joined by special guests Becky Hill and Martin Solveig.
Billie Eilish Delivers a Awesome Closing Night Concert
Billie Eilish, a pop star known for her punk influences, closed out Sziget 2023 with a stunning concert. The California native, who has won four Grammy Awards, performed for nearly 90 minutes, playing her biggest hits and newest songs. She showed her versatility by singing both sweet ballads and upbeat anthems. Eilish was the only performer on stage, but her songs and personality were enough to put on a great show.
More than a Music Festival
The Love Revolution Special brought together global artists to discuss important issues such as environmental protection, human rights, equality, and peace. The revamped Ticket Swap Colosseum hosted 60 electronic music acts over a 6-day period. A new Karaoke mini stage saw many festival-goers belting out their favorite songs, cheered on by their fellow attendees.
