A new year has arrived, but the same old story continues. The English say, “Old habits die hard,” and the French say, “Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose” — the more things change, the more they stay the same. Once again, the imperialist bully, the United States of America, has returned to its old habits. This is exactly the warning John Sinclair gave in his groundbreaking novel Oil — the limitless and unchecked corruption of capitalists.
They speak of democracy, but this “democracy” is nothing more than the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. Whenever it suits them, they are ready to burn international legal agreements to fulfil their colonial interests. This is precisely what we see in Venezuela , where the US state has abducted the democratically elected President Nicolás Maduro in order to seize control of oil resources.
The same beast was behind the overthrow of the Allende government in Chile in 1973. Just a few days ago, The Washington Post reported that Anna Paulina Luna had nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize — and today this same Trump is openly rejecting the very idea of sovereignty, declaring that he will rule Venezuela.
In 2018, ONGC discovered a massive oil reserve in Ashoknagar, North 24 Parganas. That beast could come here too. Its followers and agents are already present in this country — those who worship Trump and, as close allies of imperialism, are systematically spreading communal ideology, and continue to do so in a disciplined manner.
To stop them, a broad unity of the working class is essential. Only they have the power to resist imperialism. At this very moment, thousands of people have gathered in New York, USA, to protest against the actions of their own state. The slogan on their lips must never be forgotten:
“El pueblo unido jamás será vencido”
(The people united shall never be defeated.)
Those who fled Vietnam with their tails between their legs, who were driven out of Cuba, and who later escaped Afghanistan in panic, will receive the same treatment from the descendants of the revolutionary Simón Bolívar. More than 279 people died when an Air India flight to London crashed minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, marking the worst aviation disaster worldwide in a decade. The crash, which occurred during lunch hour, also killed people on the ground as the plane hit a medical college hostel. Air India said the flight included 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. According to India’s aviation regulator, the crew issued a Mayday call shortly after takeoff. #PlaneCrash #AirIndiaCrash #AirIndia #AirIndiaCrashMore than 279 people died when an Air India flight to London crashed minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, marking the worst aviation disaster worldwide in a decade. It is becoming unbearable. The kind of heat that is prevailing throughout the day is terrible. Be it * in the morning or in the evening, there is tremendous heat continuously. No wind, very less humidity, dry heat, we have never experienced this in Bengal.
