১৯৭০ সালে বিশ্বের ইতিহাসে সর্বকালের অন্যতম সেরা ব্যান্ড Queen এর জন্ম। মূলত Queen প্রতিষ্ঠার আগে Queen এর লিড গিটারিস্ট ব্রায়ান মে আর ড্রামার রজার টে???রের Smile নামে ছোট একটি ব্যান্ড ছিল। Queen এর লিড ভোকালিস্ট অর্থাৎ ফ্রেডি, তিনি Smile এর ভক্ত ছিলেন। ফ্রেডি যার নাম তখন ফারুখ ফ্রেডি বুলসারা ছিল, তিনি Smile ব্যান্ডকে অনুরোধ করেন যাতে তারা গান নিয়ে আরো এক্সপেরিমেন্ট চালায়। ১৯৭০ সালে ফ্রেডি Smile ব্যান্ড এ জয়েন করেন এবং ব্যান্ডের নাম পরিবর্তন করে Queen রাখেন। পাশাপাশি নিজের পুরাতন নাম পাল্টে নতুন নাম দেন 'Freddie Murcery'. ১৯৭৩ সালে ডেব্যু এলবাম রিলিজের আগেই বেজ গিটারিস্ট হিসেবে ব্যান্ডে যোগ দেন জন ডিকন। ১৯৭৩ সালে Queen তাদের প্রথম এলব্যাম 'Eponymous' রিলিজ করে। যা অনেকাংশেই প্রগ্রেসিভ রক, হেভি মেটাল আর হার্ড রক জন্রার মিউজিক দ্বারা প্রভাবিত ছিল। প্রথম এলব্যাম সমলোচকদের প্রশংসা পেলেও, জনপ্রিয়তা লাভ করেনি।
Queen Uk এর টপচার্ট এ জায়গা পায় ১৯৭৪ সালে তাদের এলব্যাম 'Queen ||' এর মাধ্যমে। যদিও তারা আন্তর্জাতিক সাফল্য লাভ করে ওই বছরেরই শেষ দিকে রিলিজ পাওয়া এলব্যাম 'Sheer Heart Attack' এবং ১৯৭৫ সালে রিলিজ পাওয়া এলব্যাম 'A Night At The Opera' এর মাধ্যমে।
‘A Night At The Opera' এলব্যামের গান 'Bohemian Rhapsody Uk' টপচার্ট এ ৯ সপ্তাহব্যাপী শীর্ষস্থান দখল করে রাখে। 'Bohemian Rhapsody' গানটি বহু সমলোচকদের মতে বিশ্বে ব্যান্ড মিউজিক ইতিহাসের সর্বকালের অন্যতম সেরা একটি গান। ১৯৭৭ সালে 'News of the world' এলব্যামের
'We will rock you' এবং 'We are the champion' গান দুটি বিশ্বব্যাপী তুমুল জনপ্রিয়তা লাভ করে। ৮০ এর দশকে এই দুটি গান স্পোর্টিং ইভেন্ট গুলোর এনথেম হিসেবে ব্যাবহার করা হতো। ১৯৮০ সালে রিলিজ পাওয়া 'Another One Bites the dust' Queen এর সর্বাধিক বিক্রিত সিংগেলস। ১৯৮১ সালে রিলিজ পাওয়া 'Greatest Hits' এলব্যামটি Uk এর বেস্ট সেলিং এলব্যাম হয়। ১৯৮৫ সালে 'Live aid' কন্সার্ট এ তাদের পারফরমেন্স বহু সংগীত বোদ্ধা, সমলোচক এবং মিউজিক পাবলিকেশন্সের মতে সর্বকালের অন্যতম সেরা বলে বিবেচিত হয়।
