  • "Imagine" is a song by English rock musician John Lennon from his 1971 album of the same name. The lyrics are the best-selling single of his solo career, the lyrics encourage listeners to imagine a world of peace, without materialism, without borders separating nations, and without religion. Shortly before his death, Lennon said that much of the song's lyrics and content came from his wife, Yoko Ono, and in 2017 the process to give Yoko co-writing credit (while not yet confirmed), was already underway.

Lennon and Ono co-produced the song with Phil Spector. Recording began at Lennon's home studio at Tittenhurst Park, England, in May 1971, with final overdubs taking place at the Record Plant, in New York City, during July. In October, Lennon released "Imagine" as a single in the United States, where it peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was first issued as a single in Britain in 1975, to promote the compilation Shaved Fish, and reached number six on the UK Singles Chart that year. It later topped the chart following Lennon's murder in 1980.

BMI named "Imagine" one of the 100 most performed songs of the 20th century. In 1999, it was ranked number 30 on the RIAA's list of the 365 "Songs of the Century", earned a Grammy Hall of Fame Award, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll". A 2002 UK survey conducted by the Guinness World Records British Hit Singles Book named it the second-best single of all time, while Rolling Stone ranked it number three in the 2004 list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". Since 2005, event organizers have played the song just before the New Year's Times Square Ball drops in New York City.

"Imagine" has sold more than 1.7 million copies in the UK. More than 200 artists have performed or covered the song, including Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Joan Baez, Lady Gaga, Elton John, and Diana Ross. After "Imagine" was featured at the 2012 Summer Olympics, the song re-entered the UK Top 40, reaching number 18, and was presented as a theme song in the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The song remains controversial, as it has been since its release, over its request to imagine "no religion too".

    The dark night of genocide

"We will not forget yours Sacrifice "

March 25th, on this Day the memory became clear of those bad times: fire is burning in Palashi slum, rebellion in EPR and Rajarbagh police lines, various institutions and installations are burning. The roar of the cannon in the last watch of the night. Sparks of fire all around. At the behest of the pakistani military ruler , the worst massacre in history took place in a military operation called 'Operation Search Light' led by General Tikka Khan. The definition of 'genocide' given in the UN declaration has been fully implemented on the Bengalis that day. They carried out massacres all over Dhaka city including Rajarbagh Police Lines, the then EPR camp at Peelkhana, Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University, Rokeya Hall, Zahurul Haque Hall.
Therefore, the decision to observe 'Genocide Day' on March 25 will be a milestone in history.

I am praying for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs in the genocide.

How 'Concert For Bangladesh' changed the civilized world's
    impression:

The world got some shocking news in spring 1970, The Beatles had broken up. But from this band, Harrison and Ringo Starr performed together at 1 August, 1971 in Madison Square. This increased the people's attention more. George Harrison and Ravi Sanker were able to pull together an amazing group of people Billy Preston, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr also. Audience excitement didn't know the bound. cause one question remained unanswered. Will Bob Dylan join this super star's line
up in Madison Square? Who hadn't performed any live concert for two years. That's why ticket was sold out at a glance and whole world's youth's attention was all about this 'Concert for Bangladesh'. Music has a responsibility. Music influences us mentally everyday. It creates emotions, makes us happy or calms us down. It has the power to build feelings of patriotism through lyrics and music, often pushing mankind to achieve feats of heroism. But here the aspect was the role music played in setting the actual impression for the War of Liberation of Bangladesh. Great musicians had the ability to become the standard-bearers of national identities and movements. The 'Concert for Bangladesh' proved that. It is said, "As is the music, so are the people."
The concert and record sales were eventually heavily taxed by the governments of the USA and Britain over allegations that they had failed to register the event as a concert for charity.

Finances aside, the concert achieved something far more
remarkable. Its music instantly raised awareness of our ongoing
genocide. What proved an unexpected effect despite Tikka
Khan’s efforts. It changed the way the world viewed events in
East Pakistan, also forcing the US government to notice and
react. Though before the concert, several journalists brought the word genocide to the front, but those weren't enough to
recognize this brutality to the world. West Pakistan with the help of US govt. tried to convince the world that, that was a
propaganda which was created by neighbor country India. They tried to misguide them telling there was no genocide happening. But after that show world realized that something happening wrong with Bangladesh. World's people started to seek knowledge about this war. After this liberation war, in 1991 George Harrison confessed that collecting fund was not the main objective for this concert. Raising the world's conscience was the main objective then they looked for money.

This is precisely what the greatest contribution of the Concert for Bangladesh is. It put the Bangladeshi crisis in the
imagination of the Western public and the whole world. The
Concert for Bangladesh was one of several factors and elements that contributed to the creation of this global imagination.
