• Liverpool reach an agreement for Cody Gakpo's transfer

Liverpool had not intended to sign a striker in January, but injuries of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz correlated with interest from competitors provoked the club to accelerate their interest in another.

Gakpo, who underwent his medical on Wednesday afternoon, is comprehended to have agreed to a deal with Liverpool FC until 2028, with his transfer subject to a work a permit.

He will officially become a Liverpool player on New Year's Day when the transfer window opens and could be in line to make his debut against Brentford on January 2, 2023.

Manchester United was interested in Gakpo in the summer when they rather signed Antony from Ajax, but information suggested they were considering a move for the Dutch international in the upcoming January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp, who has long been an admirer of the striker, views Gakpo as a multi-functional attacking footballer who is more than qualified of filling any of the positions across the front three.

Gakpo has had little training since returning from Qatar and the focus will be to reveal him to the first team setting and engage him in as much training as possible before being assessed for competitive action. This is in keeping with Liverpool's strategies in dealing with the reconditioning of World Cup returnees.

Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, approved the transfer deal and were pleased to support the move as a means of improving an already strong area of the playing team. The transfer was led and managed by sporting director Julian Ward, who finalized the deal after three days of talks with PSV on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

During the World Cup, Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal said "Cody Gakpo has everything it takes to become a star" and the striker looks like he is on the fast track to the peak of the contest after taking his brilliant Eredivisie form in Qatar. A goal in each group stage game with his country - one with his head, one with his left foot, and one with his right foot - was a testament to his rapidly enhancing play in the final third, appetite for the grand stage, and versatility. His standout performances for Van Gaal came as a center forward or No 10.

But those qualities haven't come about by luck - Gakpo is particular about his development, even hiring a personal tactics trainer to analyze his game. His steadily increasing goals- and assists per 90 minutes stats for his club reveal that additional homework is paying off. That psyche will have engraved his admirers as much as his league-topping tally of goals and assists. At 23, Gakpo is already in a high class - but has the resolution to get even better. That makes him an appealing investment.

  • King Charles visits Wrexham AFC, the new football club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

King Charles and the Queen Consort paid a visit to the Wrexham AFC on Friday, the football club owned by Hollywood artists Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The royal visitors met the owners on the football pitch as a part of a guided tour of the Racetrack Ground – the world’s oldest sports venue according to the Guinness World Book Records.

Charles and his wife Camila were in Wrexham to join the celebration of its new city status and talked to Reynolds and McElhenney about their strategies for improving and upgrading the club that they bought in 2021.

“A little earlier today, I had the opportunity to see one of the other wonders of Wrexham, namely the football club, which is busy putting Wrexham on the map as never before,” Charles told the people and reporters on Friday, per Reuters.

Wrexham – the world’s 3rd oldest football club, currently plays in the fifth tier of the English football league, which is far removed from the big names of Manchester United and Liverpool.

When the Hollywood colleagues took over the struggling Welsh team, both had passion and desire of moving up the footballing tiers while upgrading the community around the club.

The team has seen growth in recent years and its popularity has obviously soared with it. “We’ll do anything to uplift and elevate this community and this club and having the King pay a visit is certainly one way to do it, that’s for sure,” the ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds told reporters on Friday.

Much of the increased passion has also been down to Disney’s “Welcome to Wrexham” – a docuseries that tracks the club’s efforts and tribulations throughout the season. Now with its fan base numbering up, the owners will hope their side can achieve the promotion this season with the team currently sitting in second.

King Charles spoke with the first team players during his visit and wished them luck for their upcoming away match at Eastleigh on Saturday.

  • Croatia vs Brazil match preview: World Cup 2022 quarter-final

    Who: Brazil vs Croatia
    Where: Education City Stadium
When: Friday, December 9, 6 pm (15:00 GMT)

Brazil was at its brilliant stylish on Monday, putting four past South Korea in a ruinous first-half display. The South American platoon, which tops FIFA’s rankings, will head into Friday’s match against twelfth-placed Croatia on a surge of confidence and high morale.

Still, Croatia has proven delicate to beat and frustrated numerous opponents with their knack of dragging out every knockout game to the very end. And as World Cup finalists in 2018, they know how to play and perform in high-pressure matches. The Croats famously played out three rounds of redundant time over the knockout stages on their way to that World Cup final in Russia. This time, they crushed Japan on penalties in the round of 16.

Yet, they will need to be careful not to let complacency set in, or Croatia could discipline them, If Brazil enjoys another bright launch to this game.

Richarlison, Brazil’s top arranger in the event so far, enjoyed another fine game against South Korea, netting his third thing in as numerous games. Paris Saint- Germain’s Neymar returned from a group-stage injury to put in an emotional performance against South Korea and looks set to play on Saturday.

Indeed as Brazil look to overwhelm a disciplined Croatian backline with attacking faculty, they can also calculate on Liverpool’s Alisson in thing and Chelsea’s Thiago Silva at the center of defense to keep the peril of Croatia’s star playmaker Luka Modric at bay.

Croatia has only conceded two goals so far in this event, but it could fluently have been further if Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku had been suitable to finish any of his gilt-edged chances in their final group game. Brazil is undefeated against Croatia in their four former games.

Still, they will enter their third World Cup semi-final, If Croatia breaks that pattern on Friday. After finishing in third place in 1998, they were runners-up in 2018 and a palm over Brazil would allow them to dream of going all the way this time.

But they’re up against the most successful nation in the history of football. However, they will enter these finals for the ninth time, If Brazil wins. And if the five-time titleholders demanded any incitement to strive for a sixth world title, the hospitalization of Pele has served to bind their country, its suckers, and players in a single prayer to win the World Cup for the legend.

The winner of the Brazil- Croatia quarter-final will play the platoon that comes out on top in the game between Argentina and the Netherlands, also on Friday.

  • Liverpool beat City to win the Community Shield

Manchester City won the English Premier League title at the very last minute in incredible drama last season. Throughout the season, Liverpool was close to City in the points table, but in the end, they had to stop as runners-up. However, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, who won the FA Cup last season, won the first trophy of English football in the 2022-23 season after beating the league champions City 3-1 in the FA Community Shield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez, who made his competitive debut in Liverpool's jersey, scored three goals for Liverpool. City's only goal came from another debutant, Julian Alvarez.

Alexander-Arnold's goal gave lead to Liverpool in the 21st minute. In the 70th minute, substitute Argentine forward Alvarez equalized for City. In the 83rd minute, Mohamed Salah scored a penalty goal and Liverpool went ahead again. The 23-year-old Nunez scored the third with a header in the fourth minute of added time. Egyptian star Salah contributed to all three goals for Liverpool.

And that was enough to win Liverpool's Community Shield after 16 years. Liverpool took home the seasonal trophy for the 16th time.

Real Madrid and Liverpool will face each other in this year's final of the Champions League in Paris. Everyone is anxiously waiting to know whom the city of love is going to crown.

Everyone's goal as a team is to win the Champions League trophy. Three superstar players are entering the field with personal achievements as well - Sadio Mane, Mohammad Salah, and Karim Benzema. The winner of the Ballon d'Or will be the one who gets the most light in this final.

Sadio Mane has scored 23 goals in 50 matches this season, he also assisted in 5 goals with his teammates. He has already won three titles for the club and national team. If Liverpool wins the final and he can do something great, then the fans will get momentum in the campaign for Ballon d'Or.

Salah is ahead of his teammates in scoring or assisting goals this season, with 31 goals in 50 matches. He has assisted 16 goals with his teammates. But his national team performance is not up to the mark. On the national team, it is a place of all frustration for Salah. Salah's Egypt lost to Senegal in the Cup of Nations.

He has suffered a bigger blow in the World Cup qualifiers. Egypt lost to Senegal here too. As a result, Salah is no longer playing in the Qatar World Cup. This failure reduced his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or. But there is talk of a Champions League final. How long to forget the previous failure if you can do something great in the final!

Karim Benzema has scored 45 goals in 44 matches this season and assisted in 15 goals with his teammates. The fact that Real has secured the league with four matches in hand is because of Benzema. The story of Real's great comeback in three consecutive matches against Paris, Chelsea, and Manchester City in the Champions League has been written by Real because a Karim Benzema was in the team. In the top five leagues, Benzema is at the top contributing goals per minute.

Benzema passed club legend Raul Gonzalez in the list of top scorers for Real this season. He can sit next to legend Alfredo Di Stefano if his side can win the Champions League final this time.

But Lewandowski, who is in the role of tomorrow's spectator, also has a chance. Lewandowski, who lost to Coronavirus in 2020 and Messi in 2021, has scored 50 goals in 46 appearances this season. Has scored 1 goal every 60 minutes. He assisted in 6 goals with his teammates. A judge can choose Lewandowski only if someone sits down to vote after seeing the goal.

Singer Dua Lipa has revealed what she thinks of Liverpool after performing at the Champions League final in Kyiv in 2018.

The pop star was part of the pre-match performance show ahead of the Champions League final in Kyiv back in 2018. She has owned a place in Liverpool history as a result of the song she sang at that time, which has been heard at Anfield plenty of times since.

The track One Kiss, with Calvin Harris, had been released just over a month before the final and went to number one in the UK charts soon after, where it stayed there well into June – the longest run at the top spot for a female artist in the UK this century.

The legacy of her performance to 16,000 Reds fans in Shevchenko Park - plus the millions watching on television - in 2018 is often chanted in Anfield by the Liverpool FC fans.

"One of the highlights of the night was definitely seeing the video of all the Liverpool fans chanting along to One Kiss afterwards - I felt very honoured," the now-25-year-old said at the time.
