Legendary Band Moheener Ghoraguli Tapas Bapi Das' last founding member passes away. Tapas Bapi Das, the sole remaining founder member of the pioneering Indian Bangla rock band Moheener Ghoraguli and famous composer, guitarist, and music aficionado, died on Sunday morning after a battle with lung cancer. According to many media sources, he died at the SSKM Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. Since 1974, Moheener Ghoraguli's band Tapas has transformed Bangla music with a unique blend of baul, jazz, folk, and rock music supplemented with beautiful, soulful sounds and profound lyrics. Tapas was one of West Bengal's most admired painters. He'd been fighting lung cancer for a time and was now in the third stage, undergoing chemotherapy. Since the news of his sickness surfaced in January, artists in both West Bengal and Bangladesh have been soliciting cash for his treatment, with the West Bengal government overseeing his care. On July 14, a fundraiser concert with 40 famous Bangladeshi performers was set to take place at Dhaka's Liberation War Museum. Tapas was born on September 22, 1954, in Kolkata, and was one of the original members of Moheneer Ghoraguli, along with Gautam Chattopadhyay, Ranjon Ghoshal, Pradip Chatterjee, Biswanath Bishu Chattopadhyay, Tapesh Bandopadhyay, and Abraham Mazumdar. This original lineup remained in place until 1978. Tapas became the creator and mentor behind the next-generation Bangla band Moheen Ekhon O Bondhura in 2015, after the band disbanded. Tapas is listed as a co-lyricist, composer, and performer on numerous Moheener Ghoraguli songs, including Haay, Bhalobasi, Bheshe Ashey Kolkata, Shudhijon Shono, Ayee Surey Bohudurey, and others. গিটারের নিভৃতে থাকা এক শিক্ষক। গিটারের ছয় তারে যার প্রান বসবাস করতো, গিটারের নেশায় নেশাগ্রস্থ এক মহান কিংবদন্তী। যার নিউক্লাসিকাল গিটার স্টাইলে কয়েক প্রজন্ম মেতে ছিলো। লম্বা চুল, জিন্স সার্ট, মাথায় ক্যাপ পরিপূর্ণ এক রকস্টার। সেই সময়ে কেউ কখনো "Country Blues" "Rock" "Speed Metal" "Western Classical" "Neo Classical" "Flamenco" "Jazz" "Finger Style"। এতগুলো ধারা নিজের গিটারের ধারা প্রকাশ করেনি যা উনি করে দেখিয়েছেন এবং শিখিয়েছেন কয়েক প্রজন্মকে। উনার জন্ম ১৯৬১ সাল ৩০শে সেপ্টেম্বরে ঢাকার এলিফেন্ট রোডে। উনার বাবা ছিলেন উপমহাদেশের প্রখ্যাত সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ নজরুল সঙ্গীত স্বরলিপিকার ও গবেষক ওস্তাদ সুধীনদাশ এবং সঙ্গীত শিল্পী নীলিমা দাশ ছিলেন উনার মা। তাই শুরু থেকেই সঙ্গীতের প্রতি ভালবাসা এবং শিক্ষা পরিপূর্ণ ভাবে উনার মাঝে বিরাজমান হয়ে যায়। সেই সাথে গিটারের প্রতি ভালবাসাটা একটু বেশিই ছিলো। তার পর দিন গড়ালো এবং নিজেকে তৈরী করলেন একজন স্রেষ্ঠ গিটারিস্ট, একজন শিক্ষক, একজন লিডার এবং কিংবদন্তিতে। তিনি আমার এবং সবার প্রিয় "নীলকন্ঠ'দা" আমাদের "নিলয় কুমার দাশ" "নিলয়" দা"। উনার প্রতিভার প্রতিফলনে আলোকিত আমাদের বাংলাব্যান্ড মিউজিক । তিনি তার বন্ধু কে স্বরণীয় করার জন্য, হ্যাপী আখন্দের নামে হ্যাপী স্কুল অফ মিউজিক" একটি মিউজিক একাডেমি তৈরী করেন। এর দ্বারা নিলয়'দার হাত ধরে বেরিয়ে এসেছেন সঙ্গীত অঙ্গনের উজ্জল কিছু নক্ষত্র। যেমন রোমেলআলী কমল "বেজবাবা সুমন,বাবনা, বাপ্পা মজুমদার সহ আরো অনেকে। আমাদের নিলয়দার এর সঙ্গীতের জীবন বেশি দিনের না হলেও, এই অল্পতেই নিজের ক্ষমতা কতটা বড় তা উনার সৃষ্টি গুলো দেখলেই বোঝা যায় বাংলাদেশের গিটার রাজ্যে, সাধনার প্রার্থণায় এবং ব্যান্ড সঙ্গীতের চলার পথে। উনাকে বাংলা-একাডেমির গিটার শিক্ষক হিসেবে নিয়োজিত করেন তৎকালীন মহাপরিচালক ও সুরকার আজাদ রহমান। এই সুবাদে ভারত উপমহাদেশের বিশিষ্ট ওস্তাদ গোলাম আলী এবং মেহেদী হাসান সহ অনেক গুনী সঙ্গীত ব্যক্তিদের সাথে গিটার বাজানোর সুযোগ হয়। নিলয়'দা উনার গিটার দাপটে বাংলাদেশের সুনাম অর্জন করে গিয়েছেন পদে পদে। বাংলাদের সংগীতঙ্গ ওস্তাদ নিয়াজ মোহাম্মদ চৌধুরী বলেন নিলয় কুমার দাশ গিটার বাদক নয় সে ছিলো একজন প্রকৃতি গিটার সাধক। পুরো বাংলাদেশে নিলয় কুমার দাশ আয়োজন করেন প্রথম ইন্সট্রুমেন্টাল কনসার্ট যা ওই সময়টায় ব্যাপক আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করে এবং তা হয়েছিলো ১৯৯৩ সালে "বাংলাদেশ শিল্পকলা একাডেমিতে" সাথে ছিলো উনার তৈরী করা ব্যান্ড "ট্রিলজি"। এই যাবতীয় অর্জন উনাকে নিয়ে গেছে সবার থেকে অনেকটা উঁচুতে করেছেন সবার থেকে আলদা। উনার প্রথম এ্যলবাম প্রকাশ পায় ১৯৮৮ সালে " কত যে খুঁজেছি তোমায়" এ্যলবামের সঙ্গীত পরিচালক ছিলো ফিডব্যাকের প্রধান কিংবদন্তি ফুয়াদ নাসের বাবু। এই এ্যলবাম টি ছিলো একটি মাইলস্টোন নিলয়দার ক্যারিয়ারে। এই এ্যলবাম দ্বারা নিজেকে প্রকাশ করলেন একজন ভিন্ন ধারার সঙ্গীতশিল্পী হিসেবে। এর পর বের হলো ১৯৯০ সালে আরেক কিংবদন্তি আশিকুজামান টুলুর সঙ্গীতে "বিবাগী রাত" এবং ৩য় একক এ্যলবাম "আঁধারের আগুন্তুক" যা অপ্রকাশিত। তবে এককের সাথে বেশি কিছু আলোড়িত মিক্সড এ্যলবামে উনাকে আমরা পেয়েছি যেমনঃ- "টুগেদার" "স্টার'স" "কাছে আশার দিন" "তুমিহীনা সারাবেলা" "দেখা হবে বন্ধু" "কেউ সুখী নয়" "শুধু তোমার জন্য" ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি। দীর্ঘ দিনের বিরতির পর ১৯৯৭ সালে উনার কিছু ভিন্ন পরিকল্পনায় একটি এ্যলবামের কাজ শুরু করেছিলেন এই এ্যলবাটিই ছিলো উনার জীবনে শেষ এ্যলবাম "আঁধারের আগন্তুক" [অপ্রকাশিত] যদিও ২০০৫ সালে উনার মৌলিক কিছু গানের ডেমো তৈরী করেছিলেন কিন্তু প্রকৃতির নিয়মে সৃষ্টিকর্তার ডাকে পাড়ি জমালেন। ২০০৬ সালে ১১ জানুয়ারি তে। শেষ হলো পথ চলা, শেষ হলো ইতিহাসের। অধ্যায় তবে কি জানেন, যখনই নিবিড় করে’ ‘অবহেলা’ বা "কতো যে খুঁজেছি তোমায়" গানগুলো যখনি ঘুরে ফিরে আসে আমাদের কণ্ঠে তখনি মনের গভীরে নিতেই হয় নিলয়'দা কে। নিলয় দাশ শুধু একটি নাম নয় উনি শিক্ষকের শিক্ষক, উনি আমাদের গিটার গুরু, একজন অকালে হারিয়ে যাওয়া কিংবদন্তি। তবে সব শেষে একটি বিষয় অত্যন্ত লজ্জার এই যে, বাংলাদেশের কিংবদন্তী এই গুণী শিল্পী ও গিটারসাধক প্রয়াত হলেন আর দেখতে দেখতে অতিবাহিত হল ১৪টা বছর। কিন্তু আজ পর্যন্ত তাকে নিয়ে কোন আলোচনা অথবা স্মরণ সভাও হয়নি দেশের কোন প্রান্তে । তাকে নিয়ে বিক্ষিপ্তভাবে ট্রিবিউট কনসার্ট করা হলেও তা যথেষ্ট নয়। নিলয় দাশকে নিয়ে কোন গবেষণামূলক লেখাও হয়নি বা কেউ লেখেও'নি। আমাদের দেশের শিল্প ও তার ইতিহাস সংরক্ষণের দায়ভার যদি সত্যি আমাদের উপর নির্ভর করে, তবে আসুন আমরা আমাদের পথ প্রদর্শকের ইতিহাস ও ঐতিহ্য রক্ষার্থে একত্রে কাজ শুরু করি। কারণ বর্তমান এবং আগামী সময় এই মানুষ গুলোর ইতিহাস এবং সৃষ্টি গুলো কে বাঁচিয়ে রাখার জন্য এমন কর্মকাণ্ড আমাদের করতে হবে। লিখেছেন Salehin khan
