Burns Night

Tonight, Scottish people all over the world will be celebrating their great poet and songwriter, Robert Burns. Like many Northern Irish folk, I am of Scottish descent and this "Ulster-Scot" will be joining in with the celebrations.

As I walked to work, yesterday, I could hear the skirl of Scottish bagpipes in the distance. I followed the sound to where the piper was playing and stood listening to a great selection of music. When he stopped, I thanked the piper and told him that my favourite Scottish tune is "The Barren Rocks Of Aden." He kindly offered to play it for me and I went off to work with  a smile on my face and a spring in my step.

Happy Burns Night to all Scots, at home and abroad!
