"SEX BOMB" AT LICHFIELD GARRICK

It's hard to believe that 60 years have passed since Tom Jones (now, of course, Sir Tom) burst on to the music scene with his first hit "It's Not Unusual." "Sex Bomb" is a celebration of his long and distringuished career, presented by Andy Wood (aka "Benidorm Tom"), who sings, looks and speaks just like the man himself.
I had the opportunity recently to see the show at my regular haunt, the Lichfield Garrick and what a show it was. Great vocals by Andy, (ably backed by his own daughter), with excellent musicianship on guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, in addition to "The Tomtations," who play trumpet, saxophone and trombone. We were treated to all the Jones classics ("Green, Green Grass Of Home" and "Help Yourself" are personal favourites) and by the second half of the show, many of us had left our seats to dance in the aisles. The audience was enthusiastic and there was a lot of rapport with the stage and good natured banter between songs.
The night ended with a well deserved standing ovation and an encore of "Delilah" (what else could it have been?) and we left, having been thoroughly entertained. This is a superb show and thanks as always to Ellen at the Garrick for organising my visit. Catch this one, if you can. A most enjoyable experience!
