In order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their 1972 debut album, Roxy Music announced a North American and European tour earlier this year. St. Vincent will serve as the opening act for that trip, which is scheduled to stop at numerous arenas. At Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, the group’s most recent tour began.

Glam rock royalty Roxy Music was founded in 1970, and the band’s first breakup occurred in 1983. The group has since reformed on a few occasions, with their most recent tour taking place in 2011.

Roxy Music hadn’t performed live for ten years prior to Friday night, with the exception of a brief reunion at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2019.

Longtime leader Bryan Ferry, guitarist Phil Manzanera, multi-instrumentalist Andy Mackay, and drummer Paul Thompson, who didn’t play with the group during the Hall of Fame reunion, are all part of the current tour.

Another former leader of Roxy Music, Brian Eno, is not now participating because he has other things going on. Roxy Music doesn’t sound like a band that has been off the road for more than ten years in the footage from the recent Toronto performance.

The band will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of its debut album throughout 2022 with a vinyl reissue series that will see reissues of all eight of its studio albums. The tour also coincides with the anniversary.

Recently (September 19), when the pop-rock band Roxy Music performed at Chicago’s United Center with a large touring band backing them, they still had a lush, layered sound. Watch some of the show’s footage down below also check out the music list they performed as well.
