The MTV VMAs have a history of delivering unforgettable performances, legendary red carpet outfits, and show-stopping moments, and the VMAs 2022 won’t be any different. Some of your favorite artists are scheduled to take the stage as part of this year’s Video Music Awards’ official performance schedule.
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will be emceed by seven-time VMA nominee Jack Harlow, LL Cool J, and Nicki Minaj, according to a statement from MTV today. The list of VMAs performers who have been confirmed thus far is below.
In addition to certain singers making their VMAs debuts, stars will play brand-new and chart-topping songs for the first time ever. The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards have included new performers Blackpink, Jack Harlow, Lizzo, and Måneskin. K-pop superstar BLACKPINK, who will perform on the VMAs stage for the first time ever, is one of the most anticipated performers scheduled to appear this year.
Lizzo
Lizzo will make a comeback at the VMAs to perform a track from her recently released, highly acclaimed Special album. Lizzo has received 11 VMA nominations throughout the course of her career; this year, the singer is up for 4 honors, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “About Damn Time.”
BLACKPINK
The K-Pop sensations will play “Pink Venom,” their first U.S. single, live on the “VMAs” stage in their debut at a U.S. award event. As the first K-Pop girl group to win a Moon Person in 2020, BLACKPINK is now vying for another one in the brand-new “Best Metaverse Performance” category. LISA, a group member, is the first female solo K-Pop artist and Korean soloist to ever receive a nomination.
Jack Harlow
Global superstar Jack Harlow returns to the MTV stage for his first solo performance after last year’s epic “VMAs” debut collaboration of the mega-hit “INDUSTRY BABY” with Lil Nas X. Harlow hopes to win his first Moon Person after receiving a tie for the most nominations (7) this year, including two of the night’s top prizes, “Video of the Year” and “Artist of the Year.”
Måneskin
Måneskin made their VMAs debut this year with a performance of their track “Supermodel” after appearing at the 2021 MTV EMAs. The Italian rock group is up for “Best New Artist” and “Best Alternative” awards this year.
Anitta
A Brazilian pop diva nominated for the Best Latin VMA, will play her top single “Envolver” live on television for the first time as she enters the VMA stage.
J Balvin
Global sensation J Balvin, who last performed at the VMAs in 2019 with Bad Bunny, will also represent Latin America on the main stage of the awards show. With six victories, J Balvin would hold the record for most Latino artists honored at the VMAs if he were to win this year’s Best Latin Moon Person category.
Khalid and Marshmello
Marshmello and Khalid will perform their recently released, highly successful collaboration “Numb” live on MTV for the first time ever. This year, five-time VMAs nominee Marshmello will perform on the main stage for the first time. For the first time since his 2017 debut for “1-800-273-8255” with Logic and Alessia Cara, where he also won Best New Artist, Khalid returns to the VMAs stage.
On Sunday, August 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, the 2022 VMAs will be broadcast globally on MTV’s traditional and digital channels in more than 170 nations. The VMAs will be simultaneously broadcast on the CW, BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TVLand, and VH1 for the third year in a row.
