Boris Johnson’s cabinet has been shaken up from top to bottom with the quitting of two senior cabinet members. Britain’s finance minister Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid have resigned from their role. This blow came just after the scandal of Chris Pincher, he was accused of sexual misconduct while at Foreign Office in 2019. Boris Johnson has regretted for granting Pincher as the former deputy chief.

Sunak and Javid have resigned because Prime Minister still have inclination towards former deputy Chief whip. They have mentioned their discontent in their twitter post. Prime Minister after recognizing his misconduct should have fired him, but instead gave him other government position. This is clearly portrays the superiority and power abuse by the higher authorities.

resignation of Rishi Sunak

Javid Wrote in his resignation letter,” I can no longer in good conscience continue serving in this government. I am instinctively a team player but the British people also rightly expect integrity from the government. The tone you set as a leader and the values you represent reflect on your colleagues, you party, and ultimately the country.” Sunak, who resigned moments after his colleague stepped down. He wrote, ” the public rightly expect the government to be conducted properly, competently, and seriously. I recognize this may be my last ministerial job but I believe these standards are worth fighting for”.

Resignation of Sajid Javid

Rishi Sunak is the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy and also he is popular for handling the economic situation during Covid. The Indian-origin has immense support among the sizeable British-Indian community in the UK. Although his image has been stamped due to his wife’s tax affairs and also cost-of-living crisis and higher energy prices. There was also difference in the opinion over economic management between Sunak and Johnson. Their resignation is followed my many junior minister quitting including Alex Chalk as solicitor general and Bhim Afolami as Vice-chair of the party.

These quitting gives a fatal blow to the government. Also resignation are a sign that there is a lot of discrimination within the power diabolic. Where Sunak and Javid have resigned because of misconduct, others have also resigned because they have lost faith among their own party members. Sheer negligence and power abuse has been within the government. As Karl Marx had interpreted long before changing of government and ministers will not change the current situation.
