Karl Marx said, “workers have nothing to loose except their chains”. Marx had delved a little deeper into the societal framework to get the idea of the disparity between the rich and poor. And he got to know that bourgeoise (rich) kept the proletariat (poor) in flux and exploited them by giving them less wages. This has been going on since then and has become the major problem of the capitalist society. The cost-of-living crisis recently in news has made the life of common people a living hell. The government couldn’t stand up to its words and combat the problem. On Saturday thousands of people protested in central London to demand action to control cost-of-living crisis.
The protest was supported by trade unionist and campaigners from across the country. The TUC- organized rally marched from Portland Place to Parliament Sqaure. The main highlight of the protest was banners such as “cut war not welfare”, “End fuel poverty”, and “insulate homes now”. Protesters called for higher wages, increased taxes on the rich, better working class conditions. And also support for the national rail strikes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of this week.
40,000 and more members of RMT will be staging 24-hours walkouts in protest of job losses and pay rises. RMT general challenging the Labour leadership to back the protest asked him, “are you going to be with us or are you going to sit on the sidelines with these Torie butcher the working class all over this country?”
Protest againstThe government has been heavily criticized for not yet taking any actions. The movement of the workers need to be more radicalized to join the movements for job, for justice for climate. Half of the world is living in poverty, surviving on poverty wages and also with no facilities. Marx have always fought for the working class and called for uniting the working class. If capitalism exists then the society can never be equalized. Workers needs to rise and be educated to be aware of their exploitation.
