Instagram is all set to launch a theme which will stop the over-usage of scrolling for “too long” by teens.

Instagram will prevent teen users from spending too long scrolling through posts with a particular theme. The feature will be rolled out across the countries like US, The UK, Canada, Ireland , Australia, and New Zealand. Teen users devote too many time of their in the mindless scrolling of the feedback page. Instagram now will hit with a notification suggesting that the teens look at other types of material instead of mindless scrolling. This is the boon for the social media, as this scrolling kills too many time and energy.

This feature is designed “to encourage teens to discover something new”, according to a statement posted by parent company Meta. Users will be given an option to “choose what to explore next” and presented with an array of different topics unrelated to whatever they were previously looking at. Instagram is the most highly used social media platform than any other platforms. The browsing for “too much” time can have an adverse effect.

Recently in 2021, Netflix had released a documentary-series on the social media impact especially on teens. The Virtual world made their life a living hell. The complexity of the virtual world is more complex than human body. The contents that goes into a teens brain is having severe repercussions. They difference between the virtual world and real world is a lot to take in for the teenagers. The social network’s own observations of user behavior over a one-week period bore this out, with one in five users obediently changing topics when they were “nudged”.

Instagram has also introduced “take a break” feature, which notifies teen users to get off the platform, when used for longer period of time. All this features add ups to the security of the teenagers from using this vulnerable platform which can cause damage to their life. Also there will be “parental control”, reporting what kind of posts or accounts their child go through. Reels have become the real and the reality is bleak in fornt of the teenagers because of these social media platform.
