This 19-year-old Canadian actress will lead the streaming service's new romantic comedy The Netherfield Girls as Lizzie Bennett, a reimagined version of Austen's famous character at the center of her beloved novel Pride & Prejudice.

Director Becca Gleason will follow her original script and the audience will see Maitreyi take on the role of Lizzie Bennet. She said The Netherfield Girls will be

“a fresh and contemporary”

After publishing the news of the film, Maitreyi wrote on her Instagram account….

“I had to keep this secret for so long but HERE YOU GO!!!! AAAA I’m so excited. [Becca Gleason] is such a homie to me already. Couldn’t ask for a better first feature film. Time to do Jane Austen proud,”

No release date has been announced yet for the project, but Becca Gleason said that they are already expecting it would be an understatement.

Maitreyi is a Canadian actress known for her leading role in the Netflix teen comedy series Never Have I Ever (2020). Now she is busy with the second season of Never Have I Ever, which is dropped to premiere this July.
