A few years ago, my good friend, Ged Graham, had the idea to put together a musical which would combine Irish folk music, song and dance with the well known songs of the Christmas season. The result was "Fairytale Of New York" and it was a great pleasure to see it for the third time at the Wycombe Swan. My wife and daughter (who actually works at the theatre) attended with me and we all enjoyed an evening of singing and clapping along to familiar and much loved songs of both genres, as well as seeing some spectacular dancing and soaking in the whole atmosphere created by the show.
"Fairytale" started out as a very original concept and it has grown in stature over the years, to the point where three separate casts can be performing at the same time in different parts of the country. For me, it is always something to see in the build up to Christmas and a show that I can recommend highly. Many thanks to the team at Chameleon Music Marketing and to Lauren at the Swan for arranging our visit this time and I look forward to seeing this great production again in 2025.
