Slavoj Žižek thinks that the relationship between Democracy and Capitalism would split up because apparently there is no need for a political system like democracy for an economic system like capitalism. He thinks capitalism can operate on its own. But, in his opinion, capitalism with the help of a communist or socialist political system can contribute to the development as well.

Žižek considers all the big leftist political projects had been a failure. But communist powerhouse like China has found their own way to succeed. In his opinion, it is because China juxtaposes of socialist or communist ideology with capitalism.

Žižek’s position regarding the political system of democracy and communism is very clear. He does not like democracy because he has to worry about a lot of things other than being conscious of himself. He even critiques democracy because, in that system, he always needs to be engaged for his own rights. He wants a system where he would not need to worry about some invisible politics all the time.

He also addresses the issue of the climate crisis and basic human rights. In his opinion, the democratic model of governance cannot bring any positive change because the system is not for all. The system itself is the problem.

The democratic model of freedom is not freedom at all. It is rather a discriminatory and exploitative system under the disguise of individualism.

Žižek strongly believes that the time has come to change the governing system because democracy is nothing but a failed model that cannot emancipate people instead it would make people suffer continuously.

It is high time to question the existing model of discrimination and exploitation, as well as to develop a more sustainable governing system. For sure Žižek’s way of critically interpreting democracy would lead all of us towards a more tolerant and humane model of governance.
