The “Green Deal” of the European Commission (EC) is laughable. Concerned European people need to be on the streets to protest against the deal because it would not be enough to fight the upcoming climate crisis.

The Fail-Deal

The European Green Deal was issued in 2020 by the EC. It was part of the European green discourse. The EC deal is a failed one already. The contents of the deal, according to the climate experts, are insufficient to challenge the upcoming climate crisis.

The plan of the European Green Deal failed on many levels because the scope, scale, and speed of the programme could not respect the scientific agreement. The economic design of the EU is responsible for the present-day societal and environmental crises. The growth and revenue-centred design work against the interest of people and the planet.

Why Failed?

The private contracts between the politicians and global lobbyists are only helping the oligarchs to get rich. By doing that the system oppresses 99% of the world’s people. Even the green deal is helping the oligarchs to get rich.

The EC wants the continent to be carbon neutral by 2050. But the EU members allowed more than EURO 112 billion to support the fossil fuel industry. This contrasting deals suggests that the EC is just bringing the Green Deal just for the sake of making people believe that they are doing something to save the environment.

What to Do?

The politicians have to develop a plan that is more environmentally friendly, as well as to implement the plan to fight the upcoming climate crisis. But it is difficult to believe that the same system would be able to develop such a system. The time has come for a newly developing system that is free of corruption as well as political propaganda.

The process of decarbonising the EU should be given top importance. Or else, increasing the temperature by 2.7 degrees would be nothing but a reality. If nothing changes, rising sea levels, a lot of climate calamities, and an upsurge of climate refugees are about to happen.
