The UN Intergovernmental Panel was about to announce its finalized report on the climate emergency. But unfortunately, key fossil fuels producers worked hard to make the report weaker.

It is believed that the report would ask every country to move from oil, gas, and coal within the next eight years. If everyone limits their use of fossil fuels in due time, it would be possible to limit the worldwide temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

There are some countries like Saudi Arabia that are fighting their best to include the use of fossil fuels in the report. Others are trying to influence the UN to go with some untested technical solutions that can take carbon dioxide (co 2) from the air on its own.

Funny, isn’t it? Instead of going for some renewable solutions, we are still fighting for fossil fuels. It is simply because a lot of powerful people have already invested their money. The political resistance to stopping the UN project is purely economic.

Activists, across the UK, have already blocked different fossil fuels stations in a nonviolent manner. They demand to take action to deal with the climate crisis.

The UN already warned that people only have about three years to decrease the emission of greenhouse gas in half to stop climate crisis-related catastrophic disasters. We need to act immediately, otherwise, it would become incredibly difficult to control the rise of global temperature.

António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, said that the climate crisis is not fiction or any kind of exaggerated narrative. It is based on scientific studies that we are not far away from climate disasters.

The administration of Biden has already decided on the standards for fossil fuels efficiency. It is all about manufacturing vehicles with an average of 49 miles per gallon within 2026. Though President Obama set the fuels efficiency standards, their administration of Trump went against him. Now, under President Biden’s administration, tougher regulations are being introduced to fight the upcoming climate crisis.

Finally, fossil fuels are part of the capitalist business model. In fact, it is in the center. So, it would not be that easy to fight against all these big companies who have an interest in the fossil fuels business. But people are trying from their place too. That is a great sign. But how long do concerned people have to fight to make others believe that the time is coming when human existence would become vulnerable.

To live, we need an alternative to fossil fuels. But it seems impossible to develop an alternative power source because big oil corporations would not allow anyone to develop environment-friendly technology as it would jeopardize the fossil fuels-related business.
