After the last international break of World Football (season 2021-2022), European Football Leagues are about to enter the final phase of the respective competitions from Saturday, Apr. 02, 2022. This writing would provide the current status of the Top 5 European Football Leagues and who are the favorites. Editor Kamu writes.
The Premier League
With only about nine matches to be played, the title race of the Premier League, also known as the English Premier League or the EPL, is still an open one. Liverpool (with 69 points) is only one point behind the current league leader, Manchester City (with 70 points). Chelsea (with 59 points) and Arsenal (with 54 points) are respectively holding the 3rd and 4th positions, and, theoretically, the race for the title for them is not over yet.
La Liga
Real Madrid (with 66 points) is respectively in a comfortable position as they are 9 points ahead of Sevilla (with 57 points). Barcelona (with 54 points) and Atlético de Madrid (with 54 points) are respectively in 3rd and 4th places, though Barcelona played a game less compared to the other teams. If Barcelona wins the game in hand, they would be the second team on the table.
Serie A
Comparatively, the competition for the league title in Italian Serie A, after 30 rounds, is still intense. Currently, A.C. Milan (with 66 points) is leading, but only 7 points separate the top 4 teams from each other. Napoli (63 points) is only 3 points behind the league leader, and Inter Milan (with 60 points) is holding the 3rd place, though they have a game in their hand. Juventus (with 59 points) is currently in the 4th position. If inter win their match in hand, the top three would only be separated by 3 points.
The Bundesliga
Bayern Munich (with 63 points) seems to be in a comfortable position as they are 6 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund (with 57 points). Leverkusen (with 48 points) and RB Leipzig (with 45 points) are in 3rd and 4th positions.
Ligue 1
PSG (with 65 points) is currently leading the league table, and their position is comparatively comfortable because they are 12 points ahead of Marseille (53 points). Though the gap between the top two teams is huge, the competition for securing a European spot is intense, as only 3 points separate the rest of the top four teams. Rennes (with 52 points) and Nice (with 50 points) are respectively holding the 3rd and 4th places.
The current league leaders of La Liga, The Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 are comparatively in much safer positions than the EPL and Serie A leaders. For the EPL, Manchester City are is still the favorite but their home match against Liverpool on Apr. 10 can become a season-defining match as well. On the other hand, in Serie A, A.C. Milan has a small advantage but the question is: would they be able to maintain it?
