The US pop superstar Taylor Swift is preparing to form history for the first female winner to be awarded the Global Icon prize at the Brit awards. The award will take place at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday night.

According to the organizers of the awards, Swift has been recognized for “her immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date”.

The Brit award statement said, “Taylor’s career is unparalleled and her music and influence has resonated with many of people all over the world. She's used her platform to highlight many issues globally and recently has been applauded for her work promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ community."

Swift is additionally nominated within the international female solo artist category. Last month she scored her seventh UK No 1 album with Fearless (Taylor’s Version). It was her third chart-topping album within the space of just 259 days.

This year, this event will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall as well, there will participate an audience of 4,000 people.
