"STAGES THROUGH THE AGES" AT PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE, CANNOCK

It is a pleasure for me, as a reviewer, to see local talent in action and I was privileged to attend this excellent show by Aldridge Musical Comedy Society in Cannock recently. I live close to Aldridge and am personally acquainted with some of the cast, who attend my home church, St. Martin's, in Walsall.

The show is basically what the title says; a journey through a hundred years of musical theatre (1920-2020) and includes excerpts from a huge variety of the great musicals that have been produced during that period. The Society welcomes performers of all ages and this was evident on the night, with everyone giving of their best and conveying  their infectious enthusiasm to an appreciative audience. There was something for everyone with some fine solo and group performances and I found myself singing along (quietly, of course!) with familiar songs that I have heard down through the years. The show was a reminder once again of the wealth of music and song that is in the world of musical theatre and long may the legacy continue. There will be another show from the Society in November and I am already looking forward to it. Watch this space for a review and again, thanks to all concerned for a great evening.
