Aloo Tikki, a perfect evening snack or dinner starter made with boiled and mashed potatoes. Aloo Tikki can also be consumed as the foundation for many recipes like sandwich, burger, street food and many chaat recipes. The recipe and making process quite easy and simple. This week CafeOn brings you the formula of this amazing item to make at home.

Aloo Tikki

Ingredients

  • 3 potatoes (boiled & grated)
  • 1 chili (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder / jeera powder
  • ½ tsp aamchur / dry mango powder
  • ½ tsp chaat masala
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp mint (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp coriander (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • oil

Method

  • At first let’s take a large mixing bowl. Now take 3 boiled and grated potato and put in the bowl. Make sure to pressure cook potatoes for 4-5 whistles and drain off the water as soon as pressure releases.
  • Now add 1 chili, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, ¼ tsp turmeric and ½ tsp chili powder with it.
  • Then add ½ tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp aamchur, ½ tsp chaat masala and ½ tsp salt.
  • Further add 2 tbsp mint and 2 tbsp coriander.
  • Lastly add 2 tbsp corn flour and mix well alternatively use poha powder or rice flour as it helps to absorb moisture.
  • Mix well forming a soft dough.
  • Now grease hand with oil and prepare ball-sized tikki.
  • Fry them in hot oil. If want you can alternatively roast or deep fry.
  • Roast on low flame until it turns golden brown. Then flip over and cook on both sides.
  • Finally, its ready, dip the aloo tikkis in green chutney or tamarind chutney and enjoy!
