  • A Rollercoaster of Emotions and Excitement at Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert.

No wonder grief is still in the air as Taylor Hawkins- one of the most iconic drummers of rock 'n roll passed away on the 25th March of 2022. Perhaps the void he left in rock music can be healed. However, the show must never stop.

So, this past Saturday, Foo Fighters made their comeback with the most amazing concert to honor their dearest bandmate and there just couldn't be a better way to do so. The whole show was just 6 hours full of emotions as well as the excitement of seeing all these rock stars again. Moreover, Dave Grohl- the frontman of Foo Fighters started the concert with the most heart-warming speech ever. "Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we've gathered here to celebrate the life, the music, and the love of our dear friend, our bandmate, our brother Taylor Hawkins"- He said.

The whole crowd of London's Wembley stadium was trembling and singing so loud that Taylor could hear them. Surely everyone felt the band's grief as Dave Grohl shaded tears while singing 'Times like These'.

On top of that, a lot of rock 'n roll legends, including Sir Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Geddy Lee (Rush), Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Brian May (Queen) performed on the stage in honor of Taylor. But I must say the most heartfelt performance was delivered by Taylor's son, Shane Hawkins, as he played the drums on Foo Fighters' song 'My Hero'.

  • 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲? 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝘄𝗼.

Is history boring to you? Well, then this part of the story won't make you bored at all! After discussing the history of ballet in the previous part, we'll be diving into the ballet's category and styles in the last part of the article today.

Ballet has various categories - story ballets, plotless ballets, and different styles among them - classical, neoclassical, and contemporary.

Story ballets, as you can already have a guess - it tells a story. They possess narrative motion, characters, a beginning, and an ending. The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty are famous story ballets from the 19th century; classic stories and novels such as The Great Gatsby and The Three Musketeers also have been remade into ballets.

Plotless ballets have no storyline. Instead, they employ the movement of the body and theatrical components to interpret music, form an image or express or elicit emotion. Choreographer George Balanchine was a prolific architect of plotless ballets.

We have mentioned three types of style in ballet - classical, neoclassical, and contemporary. Like every other form of art, classical one is what people generally think of first, and it isn't incorrect in ballet either.

Classical ballet acquired its peak in 19th- century Russia through the creation of choreographers like Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The following elements characterize this style: graceful, flowing movements classical form: turn-out of the legs and pointe work, balance and symmetry, emphasis on story, elaborate sets, and costumes.

The neoclassical ballet was presented in the 20th century by choreographers like George Balanchine. It generally includes increased speed, energy and attack, manipulation of the classical form, asymmetry, an off-balance feel, non-narrative, often one-act ballets, pared-down aesthetic with simple sets and costumes.

Contemporary ballet is influenced by modern dance. Eminent contemporary ballet choreographers include Twyla Tharp, Jiří Kylián, Paul Taylor, William Forsythe, and Dwight Rhoden. In contemporary ballet, you may see: floor work, turn-in of the legs, greater range of movement and body line, pointe shoes but also bare feet.

But what's the point of pointe shoes? Well, until next time!

  • BRIT awards to host 4,000 audiences as part of COVID research

A live audience of 4,000 people will attend the BRIT awards on 11 May in London as part of a government-led research program into how crowds can safely return to mass participants’ events. It would be the first major indoor music event with a live audience as the country emerges from COVID19 lockdown.
The awards will be held on next month which is pushed back from the traditional February date because of the pandemic. The hope of organizers was always to have some kind of live audience for a show which will feature performances by Dua Lipa, Headie One and Arlo Parks. 2,500 tickets are being made available to key workers from greater London, who can apply via a ballot system. They will not have to wear face masks inside the arena but will have to provide proof of a negative lateral flow test result to enter the venue.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announced on Thursday that the Brits will be joining events such as the current world’s snooker championships in Sheffield’s Crucible theatre as a pilot in the government’s events research program.

Geoff Taylor, chief executive of the British Phonographic Industry and the BRITs said, “not only will we be celebrating the brilliant music and artists that have helped us through the pandemic, but we hope it will provide a path for the return of live music that fans and artists have so sorely missed.”

The awards are due to be hosted by Jack Whitehall for the fourth year running and will be broadcast live on ITV.
